Vegan Ham & Cheese Puff Pastry

This vegan ham and cheese puff pastry recipe is a delightful combination of flavors and textures that makes it irresistibly delicious. The light, flaky layers of puff pastry, golden and crisp on the outside, create the perfect contrast to the gooey, melty vegan cheese and savory ham tucked inside. Brushing the pastry with vegan butter enhances its richness, while the sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning adds a burst of umami, garlic, and sesame that elevates each bite. Whether enjoyed on their own or dipped into a tangy, creamy vegan hollandaise sauce, these pastries deliver comfort, indulgence, and a satisfying savory experience that’s hard to resist.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
  2. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut it into 8 equal squares. Make sure the pastry stays chilled to ensure it puffs up nicely when baking.
  3. In the center of each puff pastry square, place 2-3 tablespoons of vegan cheese. Fold or slightly tear the vegan ham slices if necessary to fit, then place them over the cheese.
  4. Bring one corner of the puff pastry to the center, then bring the opposite corner over and press them together gently to form a "tie." For a more decorative finish, you can twist the overlapping corners. Repeat this process with the remaining puff pastry squares.
  5. Gently brush the tops of each puff pastry with the melted vegan butter. This adds flavor and helps the pastries achieve a golden brown color. If you're using everything bagel seasoning, sprinkle it generously over the top of each pastry for an extra layer of flavor and crunch.
  6. Transfer the pastries to the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart to allow room for the dough to puff. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
  7. Once baked, let the pastries cool slightly on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Serve them warm on their own or pair with a side of vegan hollandaise sauce for dipping.
