- Microwave your milk for 20 seconds, it should be warm, but not hot, you should be able to touch it without any discomfort.
- Whisk the yeast & let it sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to allow the yeast to activate. After 10 minutes, you should have a fluffy, bubbly mixture, if you don't, the milk was probably too hot. Throw it out & start over.
- Add the cumin powder & half of the garlic to the mixture, start adding the flour to the mixture while whisking with a wooden spoon until you need to start kneading by hand (or use a stand mixer if you have one) You want to add the minimum amount of flour possible to get a dough that is easy to work. After kneading for 5 - 10 minutes, the dough should be stretchy & smooth.
- Brush some of the melted butter on a new bowl & transfer the dough ball into it, cover the bowl with a kitchen towel, let it rise for 45 minutes - 1 hour in a warm place.
- After 1 hour or so, the dough should be twice its size, punch the dough down, knead it for 2 -3 minutes, divide the dough into 8 equal pieces & cover with a kitchen towel for 15 more minutes.
- Use your hands to flatten the little balls, grab a rolling pin & roll the dough out until is around 0.5 cm thin. Repeat the process with the rest of the dough. Allow the dough to rise for 10 more minutes.
- In the meanwhile, start heating up your favourite cast iron, if you don't have one, you can use a pan that can handle very high heat for a long period of time. Brush the pan with the melted butter & add the rolled-out dough, one at a time. Cook it for 1-2 minutes, or until you see bubbles forming on the dough, flip & cook for 2 more minutes. Repeat the process with the rest of them.
- Add the remaining garlic, butter & parsley to a small bowl, & brush your naan.
- & voila!
