Osheaga 2024

After attending Osheaga for three years straight, we finally decided to splurge on VIP tickets—and let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it!

The VIP experience makes a noticeable difference from the moment you arrive. We breezed through the entrance, waiting only about 10 minutes, and were immediately guided to the VIP section to pick up our bracelets. These allowed us to come and go from the exclusive lounge area as we pleased, which was a total game-changer.

The VIP lounge itself is fantastic, with comfortable seating, a bar, private bathrooms (a huge plus!), and a small restaurant—although, I was disappointed to find no vegan options. But the real highlight is the terrace, which offers an amazing view of the stage. Plus, if you want to get closer to the action, there’s an area right near the stage where you can join the crowd.

All in all, the convenience, comfort, and perks made the VIP upgrade completely worth it for us!

The VIP area also has tables where you can set down your drinks, purse, or anything else, allowing you to relax and fully enjoy the show without having to juggle your belongings.

One of the best parts? It's super close to the bar, so grabbing a refill is quick and easy. They offer a variety of drink options, from the classics like beer, wine, and sangria to some more creative cocktails.

I personally loved their pineapple-based cocktail—it was incredibly refreshing, which is exactly what you need to beat the heat during a Montreal summer.

Speaking of the heat, don’t forget to pack sunscreen! You’ll definitely need to reapply throughout the day, especially if you plan to cool off using one of the many sprinklers scattered around the venue. Trust me, they’re a lifesaver once the temperature starts to rise!

The venue

Osheaga is hosted at the Jean Drapeau Park which is the third-largest park in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It comprises two islands, Saint Helen's Island and the artificial island Notre Dame Island, situated off the shore of Old Montreal in the Saint Lawrence Rive making it the perfect venue for a music festival with huge stages and spacious arenas for the crowd to be comfortable.

The venue also has multiple areas where you can find food, drinks, merch, and art.

The venue’s expansive open spaces and natural beauty significantly enhance its charm, but the sweltering summer heat and limited shaded areas present notable challenges for attendees. Despite thoughtful measures such as water stations and crowd spray-offs, many fans expressed frustration over the insufficient availability of cooling zones and a noticeable reduction in refill stations compared to previous years.

Overall, Parc Jean-Drapeau is a beautiful and well-thought-out venue that complements Osheaga's artistic energy, making it a cherished destination for music lovers. Small improvements in shade and hydration options could further enhance its appeal for future festivals.

The music

Saturday at Osheaga 2024 was a dynamic showcase of musical diversity, offering standout performances that kept the crowd energized despite the sweltering heat. The day featured a mix of rising stars, established artists, and eclectic genres that catered to every musical taste.

Chappell Roan was a Saturday highlight, captivating the audience with her vibrant stage presence and hits like HOT TO GO! Her performance, complete with crystalline fairy wings and an all-female band, turned the afternoon into a celebration. Fans sang along enthusiastically, however, we were left disappointed as her set was way too short!

The evening's headliners brought the day to a rousing close. Green Day delivered a nostalgic and high-energy performance featuring classics from Dookie and American Idiot. Their stage presence and engagement with the audience proved why they remain legends in the rock world.
