My Vegan morning routine

Mornings are truly my sacred "me-time," the little pocket of the day where everything feels calm and intentional. It’s my chance to set the tone for the hours ahead, filling them with positivity, gratitude, and just a sprinkle of girly indulgence. Whether it’s a chilly winter morning or a sunny summer start, I always strive to make this time as cozy, nourishing, and uniquely me as possible.

Here’s a peek into my dreamy vegan morning routine—a mix of gentle self-care, productivity, and simple joys that prepare me to face the day with love and light.

7:15 AM - Wake up

As tempting as it is to sleep in, my day usually begins around 7 AM, rising alongside my boyfriend as he gets ready for work. I start with a luxurious morning stretch right in bed, feeling the softness of my sheets and the gentle pull of my muscles waking up. Once I’m up, I head straight to the bathroom to freshen up. I brush my teeth and splash my face with cool water—an instant pick-me-up that feels refreshing and energizing, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead.

7:30 - Journaling

After reading The Artist’s Way last year, I embraced the transformative habit of starting my mornings with "morning pages"—three full pages of free-flowing, unfiltered writing. This daily ritual has become my creative therapy, a sacred time to pour out my thoughts, dreams, and even the occasional worries onto paper. It’s not about perfect sentences or grammar; it’s about letting whatever’s on my mind spill out freely, clearing mental clutter and making space for inspiration.

Some mornings, my pages are full of gratitude and exciting ideas for new vegan recipes, while other times, they’re a jumble of random musings or reflections on the previous day. No matter what ends up on the page, the act of writing feels grounding and cathartic, like having a conversation with my innermost self. It’s a practice that not only sparks creativity but also leaves me feeling lighter, more focused, and ready to embrace the day ahead with an open heart.

8:00 AM - Coffee (decaf, of course)

I have to admit—though it pains me to say it—I genuinely feel so much better since cutting out caffeine. But here’s the thing: I absolutely love the taste of coffee, and for the longest time, I simply couldn’t bring myself to give it up. There’s something so comforting about wrapping my hands around a warm mug of coffee, savoring that rich, bold flavor, and letting it set the tone for a cozy morning.

For years, I resisted decaf because, let’s be honest, so many of them taste flat, watery, or downright terrible. I kept telling myself that giving up caffeine meant sacrificing the joy of coffee altogether. But last year, everything changed when my mom introduced me to Kicking Horse Coffee - Decaf. It’s Swiss Water Processed, which means the caffeine is removed without using chemicals, preserving the full-bodied flavor that makes coffee so irresistible.

From the very first sip, I was hooked! It has that deep, smooth richness I’d been missing, and it completely changed my perspective on decaf. Now, I can enjoy my beloved coffee ritual every morning without the jittery crash or restless nights. It’s become such a game-changer in my routine, and I honestly can’t imagine my mornings without it.

8:30 - Stretch

Once I’m caffeinated (in a decaf way, of course!), I roll out my yoga mat for some gentle stretching. My playlist? Lately it has been Sabrina Carpenter (I’m late to the party, I know). I focus on opening my body and calming my mind with moves like cat-cow, child’s pose, and seated forward folds.

Stretching not only wakes me up but also reminds me to show my body some love. Bonus: it’s great for keeping that glow from the inside out.

9:00 AM - Skin care

Before diving into my day, I do my skincare routine—because glowing skin is a must. I wash my face with just water, then I slather on my favorite vegan moisturizer with SPF. I even use a little rosewater mist for an extra dose of freshness.

9:15 AM - Walk with my pup

After coffee, it’s time for a refreshing walk with my furry companion. My 15-year-old dog might be a senior, but he’s still playful and full of energy, especially in the mornings. We take a stroll through the neighborhood or a nearby park, breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the quiet start to the day.

This time together is so special—it’s our little adventure. I love watching her wag his tail as she sniffs around, reminding me to appreciate the simple joys in life. Plus, the walk helps me feel grounded and energized, ready to take on whatever comes next.

9:45 AM - Plan my day out

Finally, I sit down with my planner to map out the day. I write down my top three goals, plan creative time for vegan recipe development, and make space for self-care and relaxation. Knowing what’s ahead helps me stay focused and organized while leaving room for flexibility.
